Childhood: Although the family were certainly not as financially stable during Shane's childhood as his sister's, Shane is believed to have enjoyed all possible perks of being Vince McMahon's son. Regularly associating with the 'family business' even as a young child, Shane is said to have run around backstage with Dwayne Johnson, son of Rocky Mavia who would later go on to become The Rock. In the past he has also related the story of a particular family dinner during which he was assured eating his vegetables would one day make him as big and strong as his childhood hero, Andre the Giant, and expressed a strong desire as a young boy to become Andre's tag team partner in the ring someday.
Adolescence: Whilst no specific quotes are available regarding the young Shane's transition into adulthood, it is assumed he was quite a rowdy teenager. An old WWF calender states he once came home from school with a mohawk. During his interview with Playboy magazine, Vince mentioned that at one point Shane's high school believed he had a learning disability when in fact he was suffering Attention Deficit Disorder, for which they placed him on Ritalin. Shane's high school sweetheart was, of course, Marissa Mazzola. During Shane's Opie and Anthony interview he stated "She (Marissa)'s the only one I've ever had". Graduating from Boston University, Shane skipped his own graduation ceremony to pack his car up and head home to set to work for his father in WWE.
And the rest, as they say, is history!
